Hello,

I apologize for using the forum for other than its purpose but my sister has a 1993 240SX LE Convertible with 105K miles on it.

It was stolen last week and according to the insurance company, it was totalled and is a write off. Not being a car guy and having no idea how these things work, I want to ensure that what the insurance company offers as a settlement is fair.

Given that the car was in very good, but stock condition what would be a fair price range??

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Good question.

Do a search for comparable cars for sale. You want to establish what it would cost to REPLACE her car. So choose ones that are at the high end of the pricing spectrum.

Don't accept the ins. co.'s first offer, it will be VERY low.

If they come in anywhere above $5K, it's a good offer.

p.s. Autotrader.com is a great place to start - Do a national search for all 1993 240SX's - Therea re TONS of convertibles, choose the top-priced ones.

Thank you, there are very few comparables in BC. I get the feeling the car was a little rare in Canada

Thank you, I was able to find a few local examples after all and then they took a couple from nearby Provinces for the valuation. She ended up in the $11000 CDN range so that seemed pretty fair overall I think.

Again, much appreciated
