Alright guys I just swapped in my CA18DET and I have 2 questions for putting fluids back in.

1.) What fluid brand and viscosity should I be running in your ca18 transmission?2.) Also what clutch fluid brand and viscosity should I be running?

Any answers, opinions, and tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

all these question can be found in the ca18det manual (easy to find on the net).

I dont remember the oil for the transmission but just use regular brake fluid for the clutch system. I think it need to be dot3 brake fluid ..maybe someone can help more on that

Good luck

I've always used the BG Syncroshift from the GM dealer. Stuff is great! As for clutch fluid? I just use some DOT3 brake fluid....

use a gl-4 transmission fluid, I use pennzoil synchromesh. It's identical to the GM stuff, but you can buy it at Autozone or wherever for like 4 bucks a bottle. For clutch fluid, just any dot3 brake fluid will work. I use the prestone stuff because it's cheap and effective.

I'm using Redline MT-90 in my transmission. What ever you do, DON'T USE A GL-5 FLUID. IT WILL DESTROY YOUR SYNCROS!!!. As for break fluid, I'm running redline Dot 5.
