Guys please bear with me, I`m familiar with a "search function" I`m heavy on a jetski forum and the format is a bit different... and honestly it is better to ask and get solid opinion sometimes...when time is somewhat short.

I really like the AC the only real iffy observation is that the car is way to quiet.I`m an old skool rodder and it`s been a few years since I had a stick transmission.I`m having a hard time hearing the coupe. Yes I`m very hard of hearing. question: what exhaust have you guys/gals installed that is NOT obnoxioius?

I would be interested in the muffler only, not the full cat back system.I do have a hitch installed and don`t know if that limits the choices.I did see one type on here that looked like the OEM...

I would like something that has a growl to it, also with no drone inside the car.something that I could hear idle (when running in the driveway) and has a decent tone when tooling down the interstate... and mostly when going thru the gears so I could hear engine rpm and the sweet spot rather than watch the tach...

any info is greatly appreciated...Thanks...vehicle: 09 Altima Coupe 2.5S 6spd...

I love the Tanabe sound, but I think it only comes for the 3.5, not the 2.5

I think its been debated endlessly, but I believe the consensus is that the Nismo offers the deepest tone without being obnoxious. The Greddy and Stillen are nice but not as deep, the Tanabe and Borla exhausts are very deep and some consider them a little too loud.

Edit: I have the Nismo Catback with a Fujita intake and Y-Pipe FYI. I liked the Nismo the best after hearing clips of all of them.

where can I hear sound clips of the different exhausts?

I have to search/hunt for some pics so I can see if the class 1 hitch clears these aftermarket exhausts...Thanks...

+1 for the nismo... you can hear the nismo, stillen and others this weekend if you come out to englishtown!

for a 2.5, the NISMO sounds the best IMO, i have that w my fujita intake

Youtube, and http://www.stillen.com

Stock and 90% of after market exhausts would clear the hitch.

does not look like the 2 muffler set-up as in the Nismo will work.

The hitch mounting rails are right there, not enough room for oval type muffs...

may have to choose the single with 2 outlet type...

I'm pretty sure the tanabe and the nismo mount exactly the same as the stock. your explination is still cloudy to me lol ( i read yer post like 3 times) So dual mufflers WONT work because of the hitch mounts? If so than the nismo should fit the same as stock. Do you have a pic of your hitch installed on the car? That would help a lot

oh, and tanabe doesnt make a system for the 2.5

correct. The hitch mounts like this: http://www.etrailer.com/hitch-...a.htm

I have pictures of my install, just don`t know how to upload to this forum.

the mounts that bolt to the car are alongside the exhaust exits. The cross tube which is the receiver part runs just inside and underneath the bumper cover...

I understand you are trying to help, and I appreciate that.

the oval type kits would interfere with the hitch right and left mounts/attachment points. whereas the OEM muffler is short on both sides from interfereing with the hitch... Thanks...

okay, then I can rule out tanabe... I thought they fit both the 2.5 and the 3.5, ...

the best way to upload pics is to make an account on photobucket.com.

I just looked on the tanabe website and its only for the 3.5, but I did see some vids on youtube of the tanabe on the 2.5. I'm sure its not that hard to make it fit.

So, since the hitch fits with your OEM muffler, I would go with the nismo. I have it installed on my car and it's even a little bit smaller than OEM. The tanabe looks to be the same size as stock so that should work too.

Sorry I couldn't find any pics, I can't find anything on google. i can take a pic of my nismo even tho it's a 3.5. Just let me know..

OK, this is the reply from the parts manager at Lee`s:

I’m unsure if the exhaust will clear. The Nismo pipes are a little bigger so if the hitch is close it may not. Nissan does not make a hitch for the vehicle, so they do not design the exhaust to work around a hitch.

true, sorry about that, I passed along pics to LBC and rcboy. looking at rcboy`s pics, the muff itself is more forward and the cross tube/receiver will clear. The concern was where the hitch runs alongside the exits and up to the chassis where it is bolted... it is a typical class I hitch, very similar to other hitches...

it does look like it would clear, but dependent on how tight the radius bends are and height of exit tubes compared to stock. Funny how they say Nissan doesn`t make a hitch, yet the car has a 1000# towing capacity... it pulls the ski fairly easy even with the six speed...

I don`t have photobucket account...if your interested in the pics send me your e-mail... thanks...
