Hey everyone so im on the process of taking apart my A/C hopefully fixing a leak and i really jacked up my AC evaporator tube trying to get off the old expansion valve. the car is a 93 meaning its still rocking the old R12 system which was retro-fitted with R-134a at some point.

so to my question the evaporator on 94+ changed a little bit to better support the r-134a (guess) and also the SVT (suction throttle valve) was deleted. now you can still buy a new 94+ but would it fit correctly? here are some pictures

also this question was asked and never really answered here http://autoacforum.com/messageview.cfm? ... adid=20493

hopefully someone has some insight on this thanks

It looks like your main concern would be the pipe on the new style is super long. You'd probably have to modify the pipe that would connect to it, but other than that, it should work.

hey papasmurf, the extra pipe length there is actually where the suction throttle valve is on the old style and isnt on the new style. as for the modification on the AC pipes how would you go about doing that? i know the AC system its very high pressure. and from what iv read on patching pinholes was mainly people saying it wont work just buy a new pipe.

I'm not sure if you can cut and re-flare the pipe... but you'd probably need quite the big flare tool.
