So I'm fairly new to this site and new owner of a '98 Infiniti Q45t. Now I like the car very much and for a '98 that only had 160k miles on it, which isn't too bad I suppose. Runs good and A/C works fine. So the other day my brakes stopped working and made a hissing sound every time I pressed them down. Took it to my mechanic and he told me it was the brake booster. Now there was a similar post about this and as you all might know..... I can't find that f*** part to save my life. I mean I can send it in and have it rebuilt and then sent back, but I don't have time for all that. So can anyone point me in the right direction, or help me out with any kind of info that will help me find a solution? Thank you everyone very much for your feed back.

I had the same issue:

What was worse is, I would call to order the part from those stores you mentioned above, and then I’d get called back saying the vendor is out of stock and there’s no time on when it’ll be in.

I finally got one from autozone, and it works fine. I have to say, that was one of the most s*** f*** things to go bad, along with the wheel bearing. I was for sure that was going to be the end of the Q.

Don’t buy from any of those stores until verified with the store first that it’s actually available to order. Also don’t bother with a used ebay one unless you’re doing it yourself. I got burnt doing that, and when the shop install it, it wouldn’t hold a vacuum. Ended up having to pay labor twice.

Also be careful it doesn’t fully fail because mine got to where it was extremely hard to stop and the pedal was stiff. Holding the pedal for a long time will also warp the brake rotors, hence me having brake issues again after that happened.

I got a brake booster from a 2000 Nissan Xterra Pathfinder 4 x 4 to fit relatively easily and it's way cheaper and they sold a lot more they probably won't discontinue it anytime soon
