140k and it looks like waterpump is leaking. Bought at arounnd 75k and have not changed yet. Do you get the old one off and then 1)figure what parts need replacing 2) buy all the parts and return what you don't need 3)just replace the chain or 4)is there a kit out there ?

I would hope to buy all my parts online but won't work if piecemeal.

Refer to the link below for water pump replacement, starting on page LC-10.

I was thinking that given water pump is leaking might as well replace it, timing chain replacement is due, this is an interference engine, car runs great and want to get another 60k. So still want to know the strategy in buying timing chain replacement parts.

Are you replacing the 2 cam chains and tensioners for them as well?

Its seems like the chains on the cams would be as worn as the timing chain

So are you saying timing chain should get changed when it GIVES THE SIGNAL or BREAKS ? Is it not an INTERFERENCE ENGINE ?

thanks

It is an interference engine-you are right-no signal to wait for. All I am saying is to maybe replace worn cam chains as long as you are pulling off the crank/timing chain cover. I would consider replacing all crank and cam tensioners as long as your there. Might also consider the oil pump
too but depending on your maintenance the oil pressure might be ok.
