I have a 1998 nissan frontier. I have noticed lately that there is awhine when I am driving. I believe it is coming from the engine fan. The car never loses power, and it doesn't seem to be affecting the performance. It just sounds like it is straining somehow when I accelerate or slow down. I can hear it when I idle too. What is it? Should I be concerned?Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It could be your alternator on it's way out. Mine makes a slight whine at higher rpm. I assume it is just because my stereo probably kicked the crap out of my alternator. get a stethescope and listen closer to help you get a better Idea
