98 altima headlights on/interior lights go out???

I have a 98 altima and when I turn my headlights on my instrument panel lights, radio clock light, and lights on my shifter go out. It first started with it going off then if I turn off my headlights and turn it back on they would come back on but now they just stay off. So at night I'm driving in the dark. What could be the problem?

Not at all sure, but the first thing that came to my mind from reading your description of the problem was that you may have a short circuit (crossed wires) between your dash lighting and your exterior lights.
