97 Q45 Belts Repalcement Procedure

Hi,

I am trying to replace all the 4 drive belts on my 97 Q45 (85K miles).

I took out the plastic protective cover under the car to try and access the belts. The 2 lower belts are fairly easy to access.

In order to access and R/R the upper two belts, I may need to remove the fan shroud and the fan. I wanted to find a) how to remove the fan, b) should the fan be removed before removing the shroud and c) what other parts need to be removed (alternator bracket etc) to access these upper two belts.

Would appreciate it if some one could send me some instructions/schematics from the service manual.

Hi Guddug,

Contact Elwesso for the '97 manual. You will need it. On the earlier models, the fan shroud was made of 2 pieces. The lower one can be unsnapped from the upper one, and then the upper one can be unscrewed and removed with the fan in place. Not sure if this is the same with the '97s, but look to see.
