97 J30t problems

Hi ! Q1:I recently relocated the knock sensor . used OEM knock sensor and harness. I still get the error code #34 ,even though after the relocation the car drives better. Also after starting the car for the first time after the relocation, a small amount of coolant leaked and then suddenly stopped. Why did this happen ?Q2:I also get codes P0420:Catalyst efficiency low-bank 1 ; P1443 : Canister Control Vacuum Check Switch . do these 2 codes require immidiate attention?

Q3:At exactly 60MPH the cars vibrates for 5-10 secs and then stops and then starts again. Yes the suspension is in a bad condition. But is there any chance this might be engine related ? Thanks

I share your frustration.

Let's solve the KS problem first.Try to reset the ECU. Search the forum on how to locate the ECU.Once you have located the ECU, turn the reset knob all according the the marking on the casing of the ECU. Once the ECU is reset, see if the code is still there. Good luck.

Coolant leak. It is highly possible that some bypas hose under your upper intake manifold is leaking. Try to locate the leaky hose from the top. If you can't find anything leaking, you will have to take the intake manifold off (big job, I have done it.) and fix the problem. If you really decide to pull the manifold, you migh as well replace bunch of stuff while you are there. I guess it all depends on how much cost you will put into your J.

For me, I take the risk and replace buch of stuff "while I was there". The end result is a "AMAZINGLY SMOOTH ENGINE" and I pass emission tests with flying numbers.
