Hey guys,

Have 96 Maxima SE, with the Factory Bose system, about two months ago I lost the ability to pick up ANY AM/FM stations on the factory Bose deck, not just poor reception, zero reception, nothing comes in at all. CD player works fine, Antenna goes up and down, Antenna is plugged in, the glass Antenna is also plugged in. I pulled the unit and tested continuity between the antenna leads to the respective antenna, everything looked good there, no shorts/breaks, I even went as far as to create an antenna out of wire and attach it to the connector, only then did I pick up a few random AM stations, but ZERO FM stations  . I figured that perhaps the Tuner went out on the deck, since this is a 2nd car that doesn't get driven alot I didn't want to go through the hassle of installing an aftermarket system, so I bought a used factory deck off Ebay, install it, again, everything works but the radio portion :wtf2:  so now that I'm 200 bucks in the hole with two decks and no radio, I am looking for advice. Any ideas? Thanks guys, appreciate any help.

Welcome to NICO.
The Bose units have some common issues, this happens to be one of them. This place refurbishes the Bose units. You can call them and get a price for repair. http://www.carstereohelp.com/nissan.htm

My old 97 had a similar issue. Once the radio started warming up it would gradually gain reception. It always started with the lower frequencies first then would eventually pick up station in the higher frequencies as it continued to get warm.

cool man I appreciate it, one last question, I am going to go aftermarket on the deck, I plan on using the Metra harness that has the pre out style hook up, I do have a spare deck that has just one set of rear pre-outs, would it be ok to use a splitter and have the rear provide signal to the front and back bose amp's? Obviously I won't be able to fade front to back but I don't do that anyways

I'm actually not sure. You might try posting your question in the Audio Forum. audio-entertainment-security.html

I'll save you the time of making the other post. It will work just fine other than the lack of fading.
