i got a 95 maxima that won't start. it's got a manuel transmission. when you turn the key the engine turns but doesn't fire. but this doesn't always happen, sometimes(but extremely rarely) it will start right away or after cranking it for a while while hitting the gas. before the problem started the starter motor was replaced and we've taken it to a mechanic and he pulled up the computer error codes and replaced the cam sensor but that didn't fix the problem. The car will start right away if you back it down the hill and put it in gear. anyone had a simular problem? have any idea? it's been almost 2 months and i'm really being put off by it and my family is being inconvienced since they need to lend me their cars. the same mechanic seems to think it's the crank reference or crank position sensors but i really think a chimp is smarter than this guy so i'm coming to you.

Your timing chain is probably fine, and not something you can just check. This engine is a bigger PITA than the RB. I would check coils, MAF, cam position sensor, crank position sensor, and it could be as simple as your battery not having enough amperage. It may have enough voltage, but may be lacking the amps to get it going.
