Hello..,

New to the site and owner of a cheep car that just got expensive...

It seems that this car had been left to rust. It needs new shocks bad and if that isn't enough, it also needs valve cover gaskets, EGR, and the Knock sensor... I have looked on ebay and other sites for part so that I could take the challenge on my own, but have not had much luck...

Can anyone help a new comer that is a motivated new owner in the attempt of restoring a car that still has potential ....

Welcome to our little corner of the internet!

I hope you got it VERY cheap as the problems you mentioned are costly to repair.

Your only two options on the shocks are either find some used ones out of a junk yard or spring for new ones from Infiniti.

The EGR is the only easy, cheap thing (free) you listed. Search on here for how to clean out the EGR tubes. Good couple of hour project you can do yourself.

The knock sensor is a huge job to replace and you are probably better off relocating it. You can search on here for info on that too. Unless...

I believe you have to pull the intake manifold off in order to get the valve covers. MAJOR job to pull the intake manifold. I've said on here before that I'd drive my car off a cliff before I ever pulled the intake manifold off again.

If you do get the intake manifold removed, you are most of the way to getting to the knock sensor. (You still have to remove the lower intake manifold plenum.)
