Ok, here's the deal. I have a 95 240sx. I've done research on all the not starting problems:

Fuel pump is priming.Fuel injectors good, getting to each cylinder.spark plugs good.plug wires good.timing is perfect.grounds are good.

when I test spark on the valve cover, the sparks are spaced out as if it were a v8 dizzy. that normal?

the guy I bought it from said the distributor was bad. but i've seen alot of ppls problems that they thought were the dizzy, to be a ground wire, or some wiring under the dash?

grounds are good. i even added 1, and i checked the ecu plug, and connection is fine.

i'm just trying to see if there was something i need to check out before just buying a new distributor.

any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

You need to check the output on the camshaft position sensor, it is built into the distributor. It sends a signal to the ecu which in turn tells the coil when to pulse(which is also built into the distributor on the s14). If you have intermitted spark issues this should be one of the first things to look at. If you need a pinout give me your email and I'll send it to you so you can further trouble shoot.

ok, so i replaced the distributor today. no different.put a lil' oil on top the pistons and sprayed it out onto the cylinder walls, cranked it over with the injectors unhooked & fuel pump fuse pulled.hooked it all back up, dropped the plugs back in, after checking for spark again, and spark is a go.still no start.....just cranks and cranks.doesn't even act like it wants to start.

i checked the wiring harness before the ecu, and is it normal for them to have half the harness spliced in different orders. like some wires splice & split into 2 or 3 wires, and some have 2, 3, or 4 wires splicing into 1 wire before it gets to the ecu. it doesn't look quite stock to me. but i'm more used to honda's when it comes to wiring.

does any of that wiring sound right to anyone? i'll take a pic and post it up later.anyone think of anything else that could be causing my piece of yard art, to not start? i'm about out of options/solutions on it.

Fuel, air, spark, timing, mechanical condition. It is one of these. Are you sure you installed the distributor correctly?

Do you have any pictures of the wiring harness? Also did it just die on the first owner one day and you bought it that way or did he make changes on the car(5speed swap) etc? Theres factory splices at the ecu, but it shouldn't look rigged.

Wow, I'm having the same problem with my 95.. I replaced the distributor and fuel pump with no luck.. I hope you figure yours out, maybe it will help me. lol.

also, the red LED inside the ecu is always on in mine.. what about you? I believe that it means it has something to do with the Crank Angle Sensor or CPU.. ?

Yeah, the distributor is on perfect. tried uninstalling and reinstalling it a couple times to make sure it was't 180'd. tried alignment from the timing marks on the crank pulley, and by getting tdc with a long screwdriver on the piston. the original owner never changed anything. he just told me the distributor was bad. he was the 1st owner of the car, and wasn't anyone that would modify a car. the harness doesn't look rigged either, was just curious if nissan had the wiring spliced & split up like that form the factory. i was told that if the maf is messed up or dirty, that the car will not start. i have a maf off of a 93, but the plug is different. i'm thinking of cutting and splicing the correct plug onto my harness from the 93 harness. anyone ever heard of a maf causing a 240 to not start??i haven't looked at the ecu while the car was on either. i'll do that tomorrow and check.

So... I got mine started.

It was the fuel pump. I guess after I installed a new fuel pump I had the distributor off 180*. I swear it was dead on, weird.
