Hey guys, new to the forums and the z32, loving the car so far!

So i was checking the rear out for a vibration, and noticed the rear hicas rack has play (electronic). I know thats not the vibration (Isolated it to the driveshaft as the cause) but I'm still not ignoring this issue.

I've checked and replaced the rear balljoints, inner and outer tie rods that had play when i bought the car, took the boot off, and sure enough the actual rack itself has play. Ive been searching for a solution, and ive also searched my question to no avail or straight response.

So, a lockout for a 93 will not work with a 94+ because of tie rod fitment to the bar being different tread. Would the 93 outer tie rods fit the 94+ outer tie rods, or are they skinnier as well? And if not, with the ball joint being the same across all years, then the full bar, inner and outer tie rods should work and come within spec on alignment correct?

Thanks in advance and sorry if i made any mistakes on the post! Havent been able to find a replacement rack for a decent price.

Welcome to NICO!

I am dealing with a similar issue on my Infiniti Q45 (same subframe design as the Z32), and for sure you definitely want to get rid of HICAS. It's kind of a neat system, but it's probably not worth the hassle.

It appears you can use the 90-93 Z32 outer tie rods with the 90-93 eliminator kit. I believe SPL makes everything you need, however it's not cheap. I was gonna go this route on my Q, until I figured out it was gonna cost me more than the car was worth... :( In my case, I'm gonna just swap the subframe to a non-HICAS model (since the Q45 came in the same trim levels non-HICAS vs HICAS).

Thanks for the reply man, I'm an ex nissan tech and I left right before infiniti came to our dealership so I never experienced anything like that because no one brought their infiniti to us prior to that.

I seen the spl kits but because of where I live, It's be allot more then I'd like to pay. It got delivered june when I got it imported and I have done the clutch and lightweight flywheel (ruined from oil), rear main seal, power steering pump, b&b catback cause my fujitsubo h pipe rusted away right after the middle muffler it had (Jap guy tried to exhaust tape it lol) rear hicas ball joints and tie rods (Only for the rack to have play to) re upholstered the interior with synth leather on panels and seats, clutch slave and line, general maintenance stuff, on my back on the floor lol.

Really dont wanna waste all that money on just a hicas delete at this point, rather the cheaper option for now until a few other things get replaced.
