I just found out about 10 last night that I don't have an o ring for my screen in the trans. Is this a special style o ring or can you use a generic one in its place?

Of course it would be when my car is 2ft. in the air on Sundday morning.

BTW I never noticed an o ring in there prior to this and I've been in it at least three times in 30k miles I've owned it.

I also had another post about the removal of the condenser cooling fan motor, but I think I put it in the wrong place.

Any input would be great as I would like to get the Q back on the ground.

Here's a picture if that helps. It should fit snugly on the "pipe" that comes out of the filter against the stop. It might be worth going to a parts store with the filter and see if you can find an equivalent that is designed to work in a transmission. I don't know if there are o-rings out there that would have problems and disintegrate in that environment.

That was exactly my concern and my next step. Thanks for the pick. Now at least I can see that the design looks typical, I just have to get one that will tolerate oilThanks Heath

Joe will overnight, or hit the dealer as his markup couldn't be that much more money.

Check up in the hole to make sure the ring didn't come off when pulling out the filter.

Transmission oil is pretty gentle. Any O ring should be able to tolerate it... just make sure you have the right size. Also, make sure when pushing the filter up that it goes in all the way (oil the ring first).
