Hi All -

I am new here; I have found a few other threads similar to this one, but i haven't found the solution to my issue yet.

My 300zx NA 2+2 is having issues starting when cold; 5+ seconds to start. I have to push the gas pedal to the floor to get it to start. After a long/cold start, it struggles for 2 seconds or so, then runs great. It starts right up when warmed up. ECU codes I got were 32 and 34. The battery is new, i replaced the terminals on the battery, replaced the spark plugs, and the fuel filter.

I can hear the fuel pump before trying to start, but it sounds significantly different when cold. It seems quieter and has a different pitch. I have tried turning the key to the on position then off and back on, back off, etc. 10x times, and it did not make a difference.

I have looked for gas leaks but have not found any.

Please let me know your thoughts regarding this issue, thanks!

Code 32 and 34 aren't going to give you those issues. That's EGR and Knock Sensor.

I had a similar issue on my 94 N/A 2+2, oddly. Happened after I had some injectors fail hundreds of miles from home and had to get work done at a random shop. Mine would fire right up though, not have to crank 5+ seconds. Ended up going away on its own though. I think all I did was clean the IACV when it first started doing it, but then it just kinda resolved itself a month or two later.

If you're hearing the pump but it sounds different, I'd try to check the fuel pressure on a cold start and verify you're actually getting the proper pressure.
