I fully expected it to take awhile. When I do my rims if you call them rims it takes me about 2-3 hours if not up to 5 hours to get them as shiny as I like them to be for a day. No, I never used a hose. I just put some water in a spray bottle and used it. Well, use brake cleaner and simple green for the thick oil/grease build up and others for dirt and light residue. I jacked up the car, removed the stuff under the hood and spent a couple of hours after work for several days, so it's definitely not a couple of hours job.
I also asked another question. In one of your pictures you have some wires on the driver side inside of the engine hooked into some sort of device. I was wondering what those wires are for and what they're hooked up to? I think it's coming from the spark plug area but I'm not entirely sure..
