so i have a 93 s13, bought it a year ago, didn't drive it from december last year to about september this year. ive been driving it for the past 2 months fixing one little problem after another... new alternator, new fuel filter, removed PAIR valve assembly, oil change, new battery. at one point the ground wire came off the alternator and the power wire melted right through. i managed to blow a couple alternator fuses (the big 75A ones) because i was missing the little intermediary plastic piece where you bolt the power wire to the alternator... i've since fixed that and the car runs and idles better than ever since i seafoamed the intake and gas tank last week... anyways the problem is that the car won't start unless i mash the gas pedal to the floor and crank and crank until it catches. it usually takes a couple tries. it's annoying as hell and i don't wanna keep doing it for fear of frying my starter. it used to start right up until the alternator wire got fried. i was wondering if anyone has a good starting point to troubleshoot this issue?? i was gonna start with checking the MAF and fuel filter and cleaning my throttle body real good..... any suggestions appreciated. THANKS!

hey i thought i would add some info. car will start right up if it has been driven around and has only sat for less than half an hour. It has the most trouble starting when it sits outside overnight.

I just had the same issue. In my case it also threw error code 13 along with the starting problems you described.

For me i just replaced the Coolant Temperature Sensor (red plug). Starts fine now, while your at it check the connection for corrosion.

not my pic, dunno who deserves credit for it.

hi jer305. i was at partsource yesterday getting plugs and wires and the like, but wasn't sure if i should bother buying the sensor. that's pretty much what i narrowed it down to, thanks for the response. i'm gonna get a new sensor tonight and hopefully i have the same success you had.
