I'm trying to replace my shifter bushing. The front of the boot came off no problem; it's a standard nut, but the bottom part of the boot is something else.

I am not familiar with how to get these off.

Oh, thank you! Also looks like an aftermarket shifter. Do those come with shifter bushings? Or are they directly attached?

The bushing was non existent! Snapped off those bolts when I was taking them off though. I hate drilling s*** out.

Thanks for the help though, can't wait to drive it!

Put it back together today and it's too stiff. You can't shift. I dunno what the deal is. I'm thinking use one bushing? But which one? Maybe pics will help you help me.

I didn't use the brass piece

Here it is installed

I'm fairly sure this isn't where those go. What I meant is normally there is a bushing that is attached to the shift linkage underneath. Is this an aftermarket shifter?

I'm pretty sure it's a B@M knock off. There is a block style bushing underneath the shifter.

Where do you think these go?

What brand are they and where did you buy them?

I'm thinking those go on the shift linkage which is shown in this pic, black bushings on right, hence the need for the brass sleeve.

THose bushings need to go like seen in the pic I posted.

The only other bushing I see people replace is this one:

You may have to cut one edge of the bushing off to allow for enough threads to screw the nut back on.

I just ordered one from autozone to replace in my car. The part number is 9.5101R. It came with two bushings and was $19.00.

This is what your shifter should look like, where is the collar that goes on top?

I just remembered you said it was an aftermarket shifter, that is your problem there.

That's what I was thinking from the start. There is no such bushing for an aftermarket shifter.

I'll yank off the shift rod and replace that bushing soon enough and let you know how it goes.

Yep, they go there. Still a bit sloppy though.

Mine doesn't look like that. I think I'm just gonna leave it alone. It shifts, I'm happy.
