Hey guys...Im new to nissan's,i traded my 91 eclipse gsx for a 91 sentra se-r turbo.. the car has the usdm sr20de with a greddy 18g turbo on it .. full 3'' exhaust, act stage 3 6 puck clutch, red top 370cc injectors,255 pump, I recently did a engine overhaul, new piston rings, bearings, seals, gaskets, and ARP head studs.. i upgraded the intercooler to a slightly larger one than what i had.. now my question is.. can the sr20de handle the same amount of power as a fwd sr20det turbo motor can? im gonna be getting my car tuned, and im looking for around 300 whp.. how much boost can this engine handle without being built? any advice would be great guys..sorry for the dumb ?'s as i am a newbee

well dont quote me im still fairly new myself. from info ive stumbled upon over the years you can not force to much HP out of the USDM sr20de. it just doesnt hadle to well. you can turbo it and get some pretty ok horse power, but i believe 300 whp is pushing it to far for the usdm SR. my goal was just 200 whp on my usdm SR and i was told that i needed to upgrade the transmission,.. better ECU, a real intake. undrdrive pulleys, adv ignition timing. aftermarket cams would help get more power out of the usdm sr. thats some of the stuff i was told to gain more hp out of the usdm sr. But if you feel that you have a strong engine on your hands, give it a shot. or you could try a red top sr. i think they can handle boost a little better but ive never really found information to confirm it. hope i helped some how

Yes the sr20de can handle the same power as the sr20det although there are a couple things you should do. Getting det piston oil squirters in would be a good idea to keep the pistons cool and lowering the compression would be a good idea too. I assume that its got a Jim Wolf Technology ECU since it is already turbo'd but I remember reading a stand alone fuel system and a bigger MAF is a must over 250hp. Also the Stock transmissions are typically good up to 250HP. Cryo treating will help prevent breakage to about 280HP. And Shot peening (traditionally done after cryo treating) will help prevent breakage up to about 310HP. This is only what I have gathered from years of RESEARCH and I do not know from experience hopefully RED_DET will intervene here since he is the resident turbo expert on the classics.

Well just so you know. the compression is different form the DE and DET. De has a compression of 9:5:1 and the DET has 8:5:1 . I have seen stock bottom ends of a DE handle little over 500WHP without any problems. I have in mind the same goals as you 300WHP. Here what you need to do to reach your goal.

Get rid of the 18g and upgrade to a T28 with a stock GTi-R manifold, 444cc injectors,Z32 MAF, JWT ecu or Calum RT or Basic ECU. You seem to have everything else

On a 9.5:1 engine I'd avoid going past 15lbs, and that's pushing it a bit. Swap in some lower comp pistons (like those from a GTi-R, BB, or Avenir SR) and you can get in the 18lb area safely.

The other Sentra mod has a hybrid SR that puts down 280whp-ish at 18lbs IIRC.
