90 q45 stop lamps stuck on!

Aloha,I have searched the archives and recent posts,found info regarding stop lights not functioning but no info on lights remaining on. Have warning light STOP LAMP INOPERATIVE. have inspected lamp sensor assembly nothing appears shorted or burnt. Any ideas would be greatly apreciated.Aloha,Keith

Ahhhha, problem found!!upon preforming some gymnnastics(hard for an old fat guy)and inspecting switch located on brake pedal I found that the small plastic button used to initate contact with the switch had failed, found on floormat in several bits.

Use logic:The brake light switch applies +12 to the wiring that feeds the trunk light sensor and then the bulbs.

Shorted brake light switch then resolve the other separate problems with sensor.

That switch is not an easy task for a younger not-so-fat guy. At least I wasn't at the time mine failed. Glad you found your problem!

Please tell where the switch is as my brake lights are stuck on and I found the same plastic thing on the floor...but I don't where or how to fix it....I have a J30..Thanks karon

Check you pedal assembly and the FSM.

Carlos Knology has an excellent site, but I don't recall it addressing this problem in particular.
