90 auto 300zx possible transmission issue

Hello. I was at a drive through and let off break and had no acceleration. Seemed like I was in neutral. I pushed car out of way. Checked transmission fluid and was brown. Turned on car and it shifted into drive but seemed like it would go higher than 2nd. Eventually it died again. Shut off and sit then turn on and could get it into gear.

Any ideas other than transmission. Thanks!!
