Hi peeps. Ok so here is the story. I hope you guys can help me. Car had been running fine but had engine light on. Emmission/inspection are due so I checked codes and it was injector leak. I checked all injectors and seemed fine so I reset code did a tune up and drove it a few days to see if light would come back on. So far no codes after about 200 miles so I took it to get the emmissions done. It failed and ever since then it has had a weird problem. It runs rough and missfires but the problem is intermittent. It can run fine for a day or two and then it can run and sound like s*** for a day or two. and lately its been worse. I start the car and give it gas and runs fine and then bugs down and then picks back up. It almost acts as if i was giving it gas and releasing and hitting gas and releasing.

When it runs and sounds fine everything seems normal. When it boggs down car has a bad knock and does not pull like normal engine, sound reminds me of the old "bug" engines.

Any Ideas on where to start checking? I truly appriciate any and all tips and help.

When you looked at your injectors did you check the o-rings. They could be leaky which could cause that problem.

You said you did a "tune up." What all did that consist of?

Wouldn't that just cause the fuel to leak onto the motor and low fuel pressure? He's got a sohc which are top feed injectors.....or on the other oring. Just a vacuum leak?

Thanks for your reply. I actually took it to a mechanic to do the tune up. I did the oil change my self and changed the oil filter. The thing that gets me is how ramdom it runs. it is so intermittent.

this is off of the injector path but mine did something similar to that n i changed injectors and messed with my entire fuel system n it never fixed it... BUT.. someone told me check the MAF sensor n clean it.. i just replaced mine n it fixed it completely have no idea why it threw an injector code on mine but sounds like it could be a similar problem... on a side note just in case on the off chance you don't know be sure not to use anything but MAF cleaner to clean it NOT carb/choke cleaner or brake cleaner...

Thank you for your input. It turned out to be injector one. I did clean the MAF sensor just to make sure tho. I took it in and it passed emmissions I can stop stressing a little bit now :)
Again, thanks to all of you who replied. It is much appriciated it.
