How hard is it to remove the engine harness connector and where is it located I'm doing an engine swap from an 89 to an 86 and the 86 harness is in really iffy shape so I wanna just move over the harness from the 89 without undoing every connector.

I can disconnect it part by part from the engine but id rather not do that what I want to do is disconnect it from the main harness and just reconnect it to the main harness on the 86 z

less stuff to remove and reconnect save me alot of time

so you are leaving it on an engine? and want to take engine harness and all out? if you take the trans with it you won't have to disconnect that subharness, I'm jut nto sure what you are asking, you disconnect it fomr the inside of the passanger compartment and any other connectiosn taht ate int the way and away you go?

then disconnect it? still nto seeing the problme, it's a pita but it all unplugs and snakes through the hole int he firewall, you will need to remove the heater blower fan to get the harness otu of the inside of the car

Well I got bigger problems on an 86 the Speedo is cable driven and on 89 its electronic, the altenator is on the left of the engine in 86 and on the right in 89, I have to get the driveshaft shortened from my 89 2+2 b/c the bolt hole dont line up for the 89 diff and 86 driveshaft.

All i gotta say to the stupid diffrences for the same motor and same transmission is nissan is

the electronic speedo ties intot he chassis wiring, and the alt wiring is a subharness, that attaches to the chassis harness, not the eigne harness, as for the driveshaft, just change the pisnion flange, they are all R200 diffs so the pinion flanges are interchangable

so you have a complete 80 engien harness ecu trans and want to swap it all into your car? because? you blew your motor and trans? the donor is a turbo 5 speed? how abotu filling in some blanks

yes you can take the harness ecu and all form your 89 and put it in the 86, it's a pita to get it out form the inside of the car, as I said you'll have to remove the heater blower box which is a pita but once it's out it's pretty easy to fische the wires out through the hole in the firewall

my plan is to move the altenator wires to the other side and put the 86 speed sensor in the 89 transmission

the alternator wires are a subharness, your best bet is to simply remove the alt wiring wiht the engine and swap it all over

Interesting thread...

You can unplug the harness at the ECU and slip it out the hole in the firewall without removing the blower motor assembly.

I don't know why you're screwing around with the drive shaft. You just use your original drive shaft. The 2 seater drive shaft won't work in your 2+2 anyway. Since they're both NA transmissions, there is no difference in the end that fits into the transmission.

it'd be a hella pita to get the harness out with the blower in place

and lol on the driveshaft, i forgot he was swapping from a 2+2

Not really. that's the same hole I've always used for my main amplifier power wire. You don't have to remove that at all. But you will have to remove the lower cover.

but the harness goes intot he corner then up behind the heaterbox then over and down throught he grommet, at the very least the heater fan lower mounts will need to be take off so you can get the wire from beneath the mounts
