86.5 D21 VG30i AT 2Wd

My speedometer works sometimes, other times it jumps around and then maxes out.

Since I don't look at it often because I drive short distances on mountain roads,
at first I thought the dial was dead, but it turns out it spins clockwise all the way
and looks like its at zero.

Thing is, that this happens sometimes. Other times it registers fine.

Thought maybe it was a function of air temperature, but no.

suggestions and shared experience appreciated.
