Ok guys, here are some issues I've been having with my 300zx I'd love some help with. I have done a look of searching, but haven't found any direct answers yet.

The car - 1986 Nissan 300zx 2+2, non-turbo, automatic. Digital climate and dash.

Climate control - very common I know. It blows hot. I went through a fixed the vacuum lines (supposedly) and it doesn't just blow out the defrost vent anymore, but it still blows hot. Here's the odd thing though - sometimes it will blow cold, then (most) other times it blows hot air. Being in this 90 degree weather, it's really killing me. And when you get up to about 30 MPH - even with the fan off there is still a nice amound of hot air seeping from the vents, and on the passenger side floor board there is a steady blast of warm air (as if the fan were on). Like I've said, I went through the vacuum lines and, unless I missed one, they should be good now.

While right now I am more interested in fixing the heating issue, it has another small problem - after sitting for about 40 minutes it is a little hard to start. Runs perfect afterwards, but when you get in it to start it, no matter what the temperature is outside, you have to pump the gas and feather the gas for a few seconds before it "catches" and starts idling around 5 - 600 RPMs, until eventually building up to around 800. I figure with that one maybe the CHTS? It does not appear it was changed during the engine work.

Thanks! Any help is very appreciated.

the climate control issue, is either a flapper or heater valve issue which more than likely is due to bad vac lines or dashpots, did you check the vac lines whee they come through the firewall? at the heater valve? and did you test the dashpots to see if they hold vacume?

the restart issue is not the chts, a bad chts is harder to start when cold, I had a retarded nissan tech try telling m I had a chts issue back int he day, I'd ahve a look at the aicv

Ok, with quite a good possibilty of sounding uninformed,

I did check the vacuum lines at those places. When you say heater valve, do you mean under the hood? If so I did check the line there. Also I am not exactly sure what a dashpot is. I probably already know, just don't know the proper term. I fixed the climate control in my '85 300zx. I just seem to have no luck with this one. Other than getting the vents to actually move around now and not just be stuck on defrost. With the exception like I said of it blowing on the floor when it's off... It also does not idle up when I turn the air on. Although the previous owner claims that he had it all working prior to the engine rebuild.

And, how do I check the aicv? This could be why it doesn't idle up with the a/c button pressed on, correct? Come to think of it, it never idles up when I turn lights or anything on...

yes te heater valve is the one in the heater hose wiht a vac line going to it

the dashpots are the rubber boots that the vac lines lead to ont he trans tunnel just to the right of the gas pedal, they dry out and crack and sometimes just plain stick, it's quick and easy to hook a vac pump to them and see if they hold vac, if not then they are bad

the aicv/ficv varies a bit turbo to n/a IIRC but in either case, check the connections and try adjusting the adjuster screw
