A friend of mine is getting a classic Z and would like to put on an exhaust that brings out the performance...both sound and HP. Any recommendations?

It's an '83 280ZX turbo.

Thanks mucho!

"header", as in singular ;) but being a turbo there are no off the shelf "header" or "manifold" options

not many options for the s130, off the shelf, msa I believe sells a mandrel bend cat back system, and I think dynomax had a kit as well, a kit will generally cost less but a local exhaust shop should have no troubpel building an exhaust form scratch, just be sure to find a good shop with a mandrel bender and select a good quality straight through muffler

Kakimoto. It was the premier off-the-shelf muffler when the zettos ran s*** in Japan.

They sound considerably better behind an NA 3.1 stroker, but such is life.

that header is for an n/a, on a turbo there is a turbo flange where all those pipes are ;)

I figured...he probably will keep the stock manifold anyway.

unless he has $1k or more to spend on a custom manifold, most of us keep the stock piece

well how loud do you want it? quite but good tone cut off the factory muffler and put a shiny tip on it (one of those large shiny things they call a muffler but its a straight through) if you want a little louder, more performance, and more whistle, do the same only delete the cat. now if thats still not loud enough 3" mandrel exhaust with a tip on that (or dual tips if you like the look) I have a 3" over axle pipe if your interested. its the hard part of the exhaust system (other than the muffler, but its turbo so no muffler is good..... ) but from what I have you would need a muffler and a midpipe to connect it to the down pipe. its the most complex part with all the bends and stuff... if you want more info or to discuss that more email me stprasinz(at)yahoo.com

but in short
not loud more performance muffler delete for shiny fart cannon
little louder but still quite and a bit quicker spool delet cat plus above
little louder and more power better spool than both above 3" mandrel exhaust

good luck
