hey there my name is Abel, and i currently have a 1974 620 and up until about 3 weeks ago it was running. The hose running from the head to the carb collapsed, causing back pressue and shot oil into the carb. I replaced the hose and the truck ran fine for about 2 weeks then it started losing compression again like when the hose had collasped. It will turn on and run but once it warms up it starts to lose compression and it is smoking an awful lot, white smoke. any ideas?

thanks

sounds like a headgasket

that would explain the loss of compression as well as white smoke

thats what i thought it might be

is that a fairly simple repair? cause i like to think of myself as a 'backyard mechanic'. or would i have to have someone else do that for me?
