Hi everyone, i bought a 1984 Datsun 720 trailer from the original owner (1984) . Unfortunately the rear springs are weak and the bushings are shot. I can get the bushings from napa, my question is do those bushings need to be pressed in or ? Probably wont do any good since the springs themself are weak unless perhaps i install a set of helper springs perhaps ?
Are there any direct fit springs from say anything newer that would fit ? Like say from a Nissan/Toyota/ s10 pu ?
The guy i bought it from thought that the trailer was built from a 4x4 chassis, but i bought shocks for 4x4 and they were different from the ones that were on there, got the 2wd instead and those fit so its a 2wd chassis.

Heres a couple pix:

The rear spring bushing, the one on the spring itself, will need to be pressed in unless you go with Energy Suspension bushings back there.

Yeah, but there are several ways to do it with clamps/vice.

That trailer is so awesome.

My springs are weak as well. I bet people think I'm listening to rap music going down the road the way my head is bobbing. :chuckle: Let us know if you find something better that works without much modding.

Thankx. I just painted it last week end. It was all white + frame and the camper shell had an ugly brown stripe all the way around it .

I'm hoping that the bushings will do the trick, if not i may have to add the rancho add a leaf kit #rs60612 or perhaps a helper spring kit.

If your ride is real bouncy the problem is probably more shocks than springs.

I thought that but when I bounce on the bumper, it only rocks about 1&1/2 times. I guess hauling 7-800 lbs. of s*** or tools and stuff around probably has a lot to do with it. But I like to be prepared for anything that might happen ;) I have everything but a milling machine on my truck :poke:
