So im about to remove the bed off my 78 620 (which by the way is held together by ratchet straps) to build a flatbed, but before i do i want to make it a dually. now im not necessarily looking to do this to increase the load capacity, more so doing it for looks (id say about a 50/50 split) but im having trouble finding any wheels or even adapters to do this. im wondering if anybody has done this kind of thing before and how it was done so i can get some ideas.

i'm pretty sure pulling the rear axle off of one the trucks that is already a dually might work out... some 720's had them, i believe a few 620's had them too... toyotas had them as well

never seen anyone do an actual transition before... but i'm sure there is someone out there who has

There were a few 620's made in 77 and 78. Check out the NWDE website, I believe there's a guy on there named Bleach, he's a pretty sharp fellow and some hwo manages to find pics of off the wall stuff like the duallytruck and my favorite the 620 California Sunshine mini which is a model of a widebody shrtbed truck which was raced in Baha like events.

I had a 620 dually. the rear end is the same, they just had a severe offset single deepdish rim with two sets of tire beards on it. Some of the RV's ad real dually wheels, but I aven't seen any around.

this is us spec only, the south american models had a true dually rear iirc.

I still have my 79 620 dually. As noted in a previous post, they came with some funky dual wheels. I used mine to tow my 1200 SCCA race car. I went to a dual wheel set that was made by Appliance Wheels. They were called Double Truckers. I don't think the company is around any more. The axle was stock but running the duals caused the rear wheel bearings to go out faster than normal. I think I replaced mine a couple of times.
Once I quit towing with it, the maintenance got easier. I put Recaro seats in it. The rear cab section has a full bench seat with sliding side and rear windows. Unfortunately, the engine went south when a valve dropped. I found an L-series block that turned out to be bad so it has sat ever since. Fortunately, it is stored indoors. I would like to get it running again if I could come up with a decent L-20 engine or block or even better, do a swap to a more modern engine

the two piece rear set seems like the ones I have that were made by Appliance Wheels; much better than the OEM one-piece setup; the front; mine are painted white

Bilboy620 I have a 1979 620 with the four rim 6 on 5.5 dually wheels, love it! I am looking for another set of 14" wheels to put snow tires on. I would prefer the four separate wheels for ease of tire changing, but I could use the type with 2 tires on 1 rim. If anyone has a set of wheels that they would part with please let me know. Thanks
