Hey y'all,
Just finished converting my auto-tragic to a 5 speed and loving it. Worked full-on last Wednesday and Thursday, then a couple of hours a night after work a few nights, then the following Wednesday about 10 hours, then Thursday from about 9 to 5. Turned the key at 6pm, bam, started right up ! YEAY. Got cleaned up and took her for a test drive, absolutely perfect! Had a question for those of you who have done this. When I start the car the auto trans diagnostic light flashes for a little bit, obviously there's a problem, THERE'S NO MORE AUTOMATIC TRANS, lol. Other than removing the light from the combination meter, how can I keep this from happening. Should I pull the trans computer, or just ignore the flashing yellow light. I did tell the first passenger since the swap that the light was the passenger ejection seat priming, should I need to use it ;)

Hmm, interesting problem but first off, congrats on a nice job!
When you say AT diagnostic light do you mean on the ECU? Or Conzult? And, your OEM NA/AT ECU used?
I had mine done so no direct experience, but will be talking to the guy who did the work tomorrow and could ask a specific question if I knew exactly what you mean here...

^^ Thanks DCaff, it was my first attempt at any kind of MAJOR work, and went pretty smoothly with all the research I did here on the forum and other places.
There's a yellow light on the left side of the instrument cluster near the bottom, I believe its the second light to the left of the Check Engine light. It is just a blank light, no writing/symbols on it like the Brake warning, Seat Belt, or Check Engine lights have. I was going to check the online FSM, but for some reason now, my browser gives me a 404 forbidden code when I try to view it, dam ISP, lol. It lights up with all the other lights when you turn the key to 'run' without starting the engine. With the automatic trans you could do a sequence of shifting and pressing the OD button off, then on, then pressing the gas pedal a few times to put the AT computer into diagnostic mode, and the light would flash to give any trouble codes.
Again, this light is on the instrument cluster (combination meter, ( I swear Nissan gives names to things to confuse us, lol )), not on the ECU or AT computer. Yes, I retained the ECU for the NA/AT, as all write-ups said the ecu could be used with the manual trans, but you can't use an ECU out of a manual trans model on an automatic trans.

Wow, learn something new every day!
Never knew about the AT light or diagnostics, as you said Nissan sure can be a mind-blower with some of their stuff.
I'll run that one by Doug when I talk to him, see what he says...
