When I put a rebuilt 2 Ltr motor in my 73 I was looking for a 5 speed to go with it. An old Datsun mechanic suggested  the transmission out of a late 70's 200 SX. Found one in a salvage yard for $125.  The gear ratios were an excellent match.  The only mod was I had to put about  1/2" of spacers between the cross support and frame to keep the shifter area from touching the body. transmission sounds very noisy if there is contact. This is at least another option.

Got my truck completed, used an 80' P/U 5 speed and all the parts... Seems a little weak on the clutch pedal, but works fine otherwise.

Near rustless pickup, have tons of spare heads and intake exhaust combinations to try. Just put on the weber, next will be exhaust and RV cam. Used the truck to move with a 3,500lb trailer across the entire state twice last fall, ran real good at 75 to 80 mph all the way and way loaded up. Nice to have a clean rebuilt engine with a nicely geared 5 speed.\

I was able to use everything over again, I bought a new clutch kit to slip in while i was at it, it was for the transmission i salvaged, a 1980 extended cab.. Remember to pull off the plate behind the torque converter before installing the flywheel... oherwise you will have to diss assemble and do it over... wont work right on the throw out bearing length. Looking for a 77' Z car 5 speed for the ratio though... it has a nice ratio for the truck, not so low geared at the bottom end.
