So do Miami cops. None of these two stories have anything to do with the Altima, but here goes nothin'... I was involved in an accident in my truck on November 23, and after taking about 45 minutes to show up, the cops took about another hour and a half to get the freaking report done, all for a minor fender bender. I got to work about two and a half hours late, and I don't know how much longer they kept her (she was at fault). Now I'm battling her insurance company, they don't want to pay (the chrome bumper alone for my truck is $560) and the cop screwed me with his diagram on the police report... Then about three weeks ago, I was with my brother in his Lexus IS250, it was dark outside, there was a police car next to us, and two further back. My brother wasn't speeding or anything, and all off a sudden all three cops pull up and hit the lights and sirens. The jerk who was next to us got out, and asked if my brother had done anything to his headlights, because "the light was shining into his car". The lights are stock, but the guy walked around the car a couple of times, put his hand in the beam of the light four or five times as if he was measuring the angle or height (or something), then got back in his cruiser, and all three cops left. I guess they didn't have anything better to do.LongBeachCoupe wrote:Long Island cops suck big ones...
no, it def happens to all minorities... one of my classmates at Hopkins was from Sri Lanka, and we started med school in 2002, 1 year after 9/11... needless to say, since 9/11, he no knows what it feels like to be profiled, now, he gets it all the time now...LongBeachCoupe wrote:DR. FEELGOOD... think it only applies to blacks? what about the rest of the minorities that the Honky cops will swear are criminals!
Yo, I've heard SOOO many horror stories about NY police... if anyone cares to know the state of mind of black males when getting pulled over by the cops, here's a good clip...pricelesstertius wrote:NY, L.I. cops are usually no joke. and im black so Ive got my spider senses heightened all the time while im driving. I am not too sure any police affiliated stuff will work for me but *shrug* maybe I'll give it a try. Being respectable usually works well though at least...

I'm not gonna get on a here , as if it would do any good, but suffice to say, many (by no means am I saying all) cops are racist and pull over and harass young black males simply because they can.
Once, back when I was in medical school in Balimore, me and a few of my black classmates were riding down the street. The police stopped us, made us get out of the car, sat us on the curb with our hands on our heads interlocked, and searched our vehicle. When they were done searching, they stated that we fit the description of some suspects they were looking for. LOL, we still had on our casual clothes from working in the hostpital, and our white coats were in the car. They let us go and said stay out of trouble...
In the summer of 2000, while doing a research internship at Yale School of Medicine, I was pulled over by a cop with his gun drawn for WWB too close to the dorms at Yale. Another summer intern was with me , and I guess he just figured I was harassing her or something. Oh yeah, WWB = walking while black.
I can go on and on about stories similar to this, and so can many of my friends, but again, I'm not on a soap box. Just thought I'd point out that race can play a huge role in police stops. Any comments left on this thread are culturally biased...lol...
Yeah its "commonplace" but I've been experiencing it since I was 16, I'm slightly sick of it seeing as I can't get a "do-over" on my ethnicity or skin color. After my first year having a driver's license I decided not to donate to the Police force anymore come there cold calls asking for "donations" Although when the local Fire dept. called asking for donations I explained to the Lady on the phone I would give them the usual $100 I donate every year plus the $100 I would have given the Police dept. had they not profiled me all year long.LongBeachCoupe wrote:1unar... living in So-Cal, i gotta believe thats somewhat commonplace... and now that stuff going around about illegal immigrants getting drivers licenses n stuff...
