I actually just blew a trans last week. Held at 4000 rpm and launched it too hard. My car didnt move an inch. I somewhat blame it on the track. It was prepped way to well. This was on a 380 hp and 300 tq s14 and rt615 tires.

I must be one lucky SOB because I have launched my car at least 50 times at 6500rpm with my 235/60/15 drag radials and never had a problem. I have two 6 pad competition cluthes and a 11lb jgy flywheel and I have only yet to put the new one in. I have $260 in both clutches complete with 1800lb pressure plates and bearings. Yes they are rebuilt, with every other pad kelvar and every other pad ceramic. It grabs like a 3 pad and last a long time that way. It's the best of both worlds and apparently is easier on the driveline. When I do replace my clutch I can have the used one rebuilt for $80 at Tennesse Clutch Supply in Nashville (615)242-4163. THEY WILL SEND YOU A 500TQ 4PAD OR 6PAD REBUILT COMPETITION FOR $130.00 PLUS SHIPPING. With bearings and alignment tool. Here is a pic of my second clutch just waiting for any slippage.........$130

Updated pics of my SR with JGY 1.5lb crank pulley and megan racing acc. pulleys. I also replaced my cracked coil pack cover with a custom alum piece I made and had ingraved. I "barrowed" the piece of alum from work and machined it my self and paid $5 to have it ingraved vs. $100+ for carbon fiber or custom cover online.

Cody, I am still considering the JWT S4 cams, but only if I can run them with stock springs? I know you are running S3's with stock everything but what about the S4's.

IMO the S4's fit the powerband and range of a t3 or gt30+ based turbocharger (as it's slightly peakier than the S3's).

S1 through S5's don't need spring changes. S5's are totally N/A cams though. The JWT C series cams require springs (C1 cams with a 2871r or a 30r would be AMAZING).

That is a really nice power band... why the drop off at 7.5k rpm? Didn't want to push it too much on the dyno?

The .64 housing has too much backpressure to make power over 7500rpm. Its a T2 housing problem in general. My .86 peaks around 7750 or so.

The RPM pickup on the dyno wasn't really following the car itself IMO. Most cars are a little off on either end.

The falling off, as said above, has got to be associated with the turbine itself, and or the IWG (and or both).

I'll be dynoing the car again when i get back from my 2 week AT (Rserves), to see how the Crank scraper, external gate, and water injection work out. I'm hoping to see another 10 whp, but more importantly, more torque downlow. I'm also going to try and get on a Mustang/Land and Sea style dyno too, to give a more true indication of the cars quick spooling (on street, the car is full 20 before 3800ish).

Maybe I'll crank the boost some with the water injection too? Who knows. The car is already silly on track, which is plenty for me. If I wanted a laggy big power car, I easily could have gone that route, but I really prefer the fun small frame turbo setup :D

Cody, what turbo is the 30r you speak of. And which cam (c series) would you go with if you were doing a complete head build up.

The reason I ask is I think I want to go with a setup just a hair more radical than yours...eventually. I'll probably start with a gt2871r and then move up to a twin scroll turbo that pushes the powerband up to 8,000rpms. Think your "30r" would be the right turbo for the job?

And seriously, you should post up a vid of your car accelerating, from inside and out, to show everyone what kinda acceleration you setup can make.

Here is the 30R with external gate..........http://www.atpturbo.com/Mercha...e=GRT

It is also available with internal gate........http://www.atpturbo.com/Mercha...e=GRT.I haven't decided which way I will go but one of these is in my future. After research I would recommend the .64 AR in this turbo. Or you could go with the GT3071 with the .86 AR.

Being that you can run a proper manifold with the 3071, I like the .86 housing. That, in combination with C1 cams would be incredible, have awesome midrange, and easily make 450whp+

Certainly do. If you look at some of the US Based time attack cars (maybe not the most wild ones), you'll most of them all have 450+ whp, all using 3071 (either variant really).

I don't know enough about the 3076 to have any opinion on them.

Don't worry, when my ECU comes back with my twin launch feature, and the water injection working (I fried the diodes, hooked it up backward), there will be some fun videos. Let me just say, 400 whp with 4.60's out back is an awesome ride to 130.

Hells yah, thanks for the response!

And thanks for the links kentucky!

I'm almost done doing my suspension work. Hopefully in a couple months I'll be able to focus on getting my sr swapped...I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the cylinders aren't too oxidized, and I won't have to rebuild it...engine's only been sittin a year or two

Datsun: Soak them with oil first (wipe with a rag) and then clean them the next day with carb cleaner...then check how it looks. At a minimum you could bottle brush them back to shape in a hurry.

Idaho: I use a Greddy profec Type S, but am also well experienced with the B Spec I and B Spec II...I have no AVCR experience.

Is the bottom end in?

If so, I wouldn't even worry about it. Fire it up and letter have it.

Yah, the engine is all together, just in the wrong car. Gotta wire it up too...looks like the "uncut" wiring wasn't so uncut....and who knows what else I'll run across missing.

After all, it was bought from an engine dealer in Canada by my friend....and then I was foolish enough to buy it from my friend.

I probably should take off the head anyways...atleast to do HG and studs. I might just drop it in and enjoy it alittle first

Probably squirt some oil in there and try to crank the engine over by hand with a ratchet on the pulley bolt, till its nice and easy to spin...

Hello everyone I am pretty much new to the nissan scene but I wanted to get some of you input on my future set up.

I am looking at pretty much copying the set up of "codyace" , now I searched and I still can't find the answer to my questions. What is the difference between side injectors and top feed, can I just use 740cc and get somewhat relitive results? Also is there a major difference between a z32 maf and cobra maf? or does JWT tune only using Cobra mafs and Top feed injectors? Thanks in advance for the help.

Current set up:

Stock sr20, fmic, turbo back exhaust, s14 t28 turbo.

Sidefeed and Topfeed refers to how the fuel enters the injectors. Sidefeed is where the injectors fit down into the rail and fuel fills the rail supplying the injector with fuel through its sides. Topfeed is where the fuel rail is hooked to the top of the injector supplying fuel from the top.JWT can tune Z32 and Cobra MAF. They can tune Topfeed and Sidefeed injectors. Low and High Impedence if i remember. JWT can do just about anything to the Nissan ECU.

Thanks for the info. So performance wise, the way the fuel is being delivered it doesn't have gains over the other. I guess I didn't properly phrase my question. But just making a guess if they can tune any of those factors then again it doesn't matter, thats why the tune is there...? Thanks again.

Hey cody, any experience with the treadstone mani's? I've heard they're revhard knockoffs, but I respect most turbonetics dealers....

I'm curious if they have more flow capacity than the stock mani...
