So my 300zx won't start. Some back story:

I had a problem with starting the car a while ago but it turned out to be a bad battery terminal. The terminal was replaced and it was fine. This was about a month ago.

Yesterday I drove the car and everything was fine. I left if for a few hours and came back and it started but then just died. It reved up and didn't even start idling, just died. I started it again and kept it trying for about 15 seconds at which point it started to cough and I lightly stepped on the gas and it burst to life. It was then fine and I drove home.

After leaving it for an hour and trying it start it again it wouldn't start. Not even a cough. The starter turns over and there is compression but it won't cough or actually start.

Any advice would be awesome. People have suggested it could be spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel injectors, timing belt, etc.

Thanks.

If it ran and quit a few times it sounds electrical to me.

Step 1 is always to run ECU diagnostics first to see what codes show up and fix those issues.

Next, I'd check the connections at the CAS (and PTU) first to see if they are clean and not corroded. If they are clean, then test for spark and the injectors firing by pulling the CAS. Once it's off, reconnect the harness to it, remove a spark plug and reconnect the coil pack to it and ground the plug. Turn the ignition on and slowly rotate the CAS. You should see the plug fire if all is good electrically and also be able to hear each injector click as you slowly rotate it.If neither of those do it, check fuel pressure.
