ok so i have a 300zx N/A witch i converted to TT problem is the driveshaft i baught from Z1 (one piece steel custom driveshaft) is a quarter of a inch too long and makes it a tight fit a really tight fit and i know its not suppose to be such a tight fit now i know it cant be the driveshaft because it is the correct legnth now what i want to know if worn out motor mounts can cause the engine to sit a little farther back or if worn out sub frame bushings can cause the rear differential to be off problem is both parts havent been changed since i got the car and im pretty sure the dude that had it before me dint eithet its a 1990 300zx that would make 25 years without replacing them so in conclusion i want to know if anyone out there has had this driveshaft not fitting right problem any info on would be greatly apreciated thanks.

Is your car a 2+2 or 2+0? Auto or manual? All these makes a diference. Did you get the one for the TT or NA? The TT rear end has a CV jointg and 6 or 8 bolts that connect to the rear end. The NA only has 4 and a ujoint. If you swap a TT into a na, you need an NA driveshaft, not a TT shaft.

The 5 speeds are the same, well minus a few things, but outside they are same dimension

Auto's are different in the TT and NA, and are longer

If you got it from Z1, let them know. It is possible they sent you one that is a little too long, it happens. The get the shafts from an outside source. It very well could be their mess up.

The only other issues if your car was in an accident, which coud have pushed the engine forward, but you would have other issues with other things not lining up. To answer your questions, no worn mounts will not cause it to move back 1/4 inch. Down 1/4", that is very possible.

^^^^As stated here, DEFINITELY check carefully that you have the correct shaft for your setup as you can do some damage, so don't use it until you have figured out the problem for sure.
