I have a 1990 Nissan 300zx 2+2 just bought it a month ago ... bought it fairly cheap knowing that problems would arise
just a couple weeks ago i started having problems with it.... its like the car is getting to much air and not enough gas or something ..... FOR EXAMPLE i am at a red light and step on the gas it has problems reaching 3000 rpm then when it does reach 3000 then drops to about 2500 rpm and i keep gassing it until i hit about 40 mph the car starts to run smoothly
thanks any and all help will be greatly appriciated!! :)

Hey there and welcome to the site. It sounds like your car goes into limp mode at times and then recovers. Maybe bad spark plugs or sensor, like the exhaust 02 sensor or possibly intake air sensor. Bad battery or grounds maybe. I'm not super familiar with your car. What would be nice would be to get the codes from your car's computer. I think there's a light bulb on the back of the ECU you can get to blink in sequences by turning a small screw to get the code numbers. Check these links for reading codes...

If you find something, post back and maybe we can help.

This and is your car an auto or a manual? Does it happen all the time or sometime? Have you checked vacuum lines?
How is the Idle? Does it bounce? Is it erratic at certain rpms? can you free rev(not under load, basically in neutral) and hold at 1500? 2k? 2500? 3k?

Check your TPS to make sure it is adjusted correctly and test correctly.

This will cause all kind of havoc in an Auto and some issues in a Manual.

Another thing to check is the connectors to make sure they are not corroded at the MAF(another suspect), injectors, coil packs, etc. But as stated by centralcoaster33, check the ECU first.
