Basically what happened is a guy in a Cadillac 4-door crossed the street in front of me and I t-boned his car. There were only minor injuries (I got a sprained shoulder from the impact).

The car was totaled (~$18,700 in estimated visible damage).

It was totaled...so no more coupe.

The insurance company took the car already...all I have are two key's and the original wheels/tires...

I picked up a 370Z two weeks ago. I figured I would go for RWD this time.

I will eventually post pictures...I actually last week got sent to the UK for 2 weeks for work.

It's a lot different from the A/C. The Z is definitely a sportier car, but there is quite a bit of cabin noise. I got the sport package with navigation.

My two options were a G37 or a 370Z. I choose the Z because I figured that if I don't get one while I'm young...I'll never be able to get one. The G was definitely more practical, but the Z was also 5k cheaper. It really is like a G37 coupe, but with only 2 seats and more sport oriented.

Interior-wise the Z really has a lot of similarities to the G and even the A/C. The navigation system is the same as the G. However, I think the padded arm-rests and doors are strange, but I guess they come in handy. It also has the knee pads which I think are an interesting feature.

It happened on May 8th. I driving home from my new apartment to my old apartment in Pearland. I was moving the next day...

As far as the rims...I had to give those with the car. I didn't have a way to transport them from the towing yard, and they were negotiated into the settlement. Basically without them and the tints and the springs they wanted to give me $22,000 for the car. Which basically meant that I would get less back after the loan pay-off than I had put down originally. I told them that I shouldn't have to absorb the depreciation cost because I had no intention of selling the car. So, long story short, they bumped it to 26 something. Which isn't bad for it having 17,500 miles and me owning it for 18 months.

I will definitely attest to the safety of the car. I mean the car in the end was about the same length as my 370Z is now (about 20in shorter).

However, I think it my lack in serious injuries are also related to how I sat in the car. I didn't impact the airbag when it deployed because I sat back far enough to be out of it's reach. The only reason I had anything other than bruises from the seat belt was because I left my left hand on the wheel. The doctor said I tensed up which held my arm in place and that my body's momentum to pushed my shoulder forward. This caused the sprain and I am still in physical therapy for it.

However, I will warn you...the vent hole for the air bag (at least for me) was about the 11 o'clock position on the wheel (which was where my hand was).

For the record the passenger compartment of that Cadillac was like a tank. My car pretty much crushed into it then bounced off of it.

If you don't mind me asking...was it their fault? Good luck to you if it was...

It is good to hear you are in relatively good shape and didn't take a huge loss on the car.

Well...it's actually a really long story. It was their fault (I had right of way and no traffic control devices and they had a stop sign). However, their insurance company (Allstate) decided that I was 30% responsible because I hit their driver even though he was in the intersection illegally. The police issued him a ticket and told me it was totally his fault. My insurance company told me Allstate was notorious for trying to avoid fault by being a bit unscrupulous.

After I attempted to negotiate with Allstate and got nowhere I turned the claim over to my insurance. They "subrogated" the claim and paid out to me and will take Allstate to arbitration. So the car settlement has been dealt with, but I have to deal with the medical claim on my own. Since I have physical therapy and several doctors visits I have a significant claim on them. I have a feeling I will have to seek a lawyer to get this resolved...
