Hello.I hope you can help me with my problem. here is all the info possible.

Make: NissanYear:1991Model:240sx LE

Engine:180200 ka24de with 5 speed(everything is stock)

The check engine light is on but i have no idea why. I don`t really hear or feel anything wrong. It is not my spark plugs cause it starts right up, stays at idle and eveything.

Here is the maintenance done in the last few months.......oil change about 650 miles ago.Tune up about a little over a year, and a bunch of other things but its been a years +.

The only thing that i can think of(but it might be my imagination) that seems like it might be wrong is it seems like its not getting the gas mileage it should be getting and once in a while i think i smell gas.

If i need more info please tell me and i`ll be more then happy to put it up.

Thank you for your help and its much appreciated.

Use the search button at the top of the page and look for ECU Diagnostic, or Checking ECU, ECU Codes. Something along those lines. The search button is your friend. A writeup should show up telling you how to check your ECU and see what code you have. Try it out and let us know.

Could be tons of things bro.

Pretty much its a sensor tho. You definitly should get a OBDI tester and see whats up with it.

pull your code first, no need to buy anything. get a screwdriver and take off the passenger floor kickpanel, like 2 or 3 screws, and your plastic door trim that is at the base of the carpet. behind that kick panel you will find your ecu. take it off using a 10 mm socket. flip it around and you will see a little round knob. to check your codes, turn your switch from the off position to the on position (running position, not cranking), a little led light will come on on the ecu. within a couple of seconds, take a flat head and turn the knob fully clockwise, then fully counterclockwise, then your led light will start flashing. watch it and note how many long flashes then short flashes happen. for example long, long, long, long, long, short short short short short would be 55. maybe more than one, but it will repeat itself after all are done. post it up and see what you get.

california computers are different. these are the codes that trigger red light in dash. a non california only triggers red light in dash for two codes.

look up ecu in tutorial link in signature. or google 240sx ecu code tutorial or whatever problem you have re 240sx.

For California Models Only:

Code # Description

12 Air flow meter circuit13 Engine temperature sensor circuit14 Vehicle speed sensor circuit31 E.C.U. (E.C.C.S. control unit)32 EGR function33 Exhaust gas O2 sensor circuit35 Exhaust gas temperature circuit43 Throttle position sensor circuit45 Injector leak
