You should definitely head out to a strip or road course if you can. You can't even get close to the limit on public roads, unfortunately.

I feel like I really only got to know my car well (to the point where driving near the limit felt comfortable) after the second or third track day. 390 rwhp was quite the step up from 136 fwhp in my old 1990 integra track beater lol.

My only worry was that it wasn't what the guy said it was. Kind of like a "too good to be true" car scenario. I kept the faith and flew to Cali to check the car out. Long story short:

- Previous owner was CA Highway Patrolman and his supervisor told him he had to get rid of the car or he was fired. Had no question as to whether the guy was legit or not after I hung out with him. He spent all day with me making sure the car was as good as he said it was.

- Took it to McKinney Motorsports in Murrieta, CA to have them look it over. They gave it the guru blessing and I nearly shat myself.

I was like.... SOLD! <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.nicoclub.com/forums/image ... yumyum.gif" BORDER="0">
you lucky... f***ing... bastard....

Props dude I envy you! nice buy lmao

I've got a vid of me revving up and shooting a fireball, then accelerating off into the distance. Dunno if I want to post it online, though. We shall see...

There are a few links to my flickr profile a few pages back. Several onboard vids for you to enjoy.

Nothing high-speed or anything because I was on public roads, but at least some 1-2-3 action. Also, you have to keep in mind that the vids on my flickr were done in 100+ degree weather. She was making about 390 whp at that temp. I get a pretty significant boost in power when it's only 50-60 degrees or less outside hehe.

I won't deny that the 240 was a lucky find.

I'll do my best to get some legit onboard video this spring. It's gonna be good with the new tires!

Haven't entered it into a real race, just lapping and TT.

Well, I've been working pretty hard on the 240 and so has my wallet.

In preparation for this season, I've been doing basic maintenance such as:

- Oil/filter change- Purged stale 101 octane, filled with fresh fuel- Rear diff fluid change- Transmission fluid change- Radiator flush w/ new Water Wetter- Brake fluid flush- Replaced damaged JIC muffler- Fresh plugs for dyno tune/ fresh plugs for first track day- New power steering belt w/ one extra in my toolbox

Mostly just basic crap, but then things got interesting this Friday as my car rolled onto the dyno at Intec Racing (the only Apexi Power FC tuner in WA).

I've recently been aware of what seemed to be an overboost of some sort, and it started after I moved to WA. Unsure of what could be causing this problem (as my car is equipped with dual HKS wastegate actuators, and an HKS EVC VI boost controller), I decided that I wanted to get re-tuned before this season.

As Lawrence (the lead-dude and tuner at Intec Racing) begins the dyno run, he notices that the car is going WAY over my instructed boost limit of 15 psi. After 5,000 rpm, the boost just goes berserk and rises up to 20+ in one second.

He did a great job of paying attention to my requested specs and made sure to let off immediately as soon as he saw the issue.

Of course, the dilemma turns out to be BOOST CREEP. DAMN WA COLD/DENSE AIR!

My straight-pipe to fart-can muffler didn't work out as well as I thought it would. What sucked is that it took us 3-4 hours to figure this out, and I couldn't really test the theory until this (Saturday) morning; I just so happened to leave my muffler-silencer at home. The boost creep theory was easily confirmed as soon as I popped the silencer in, and I was able to hold 14-15 psi.

So, off to the muffler shop. $180 later, I've got an extra "turbo muffler" installed on my system, and I'm back to Intec racing for this season's dyno tune. :D

Results were GREAT! 351 whp/332 ft. lb. 14.9 psi! Full boost by 3500 rpm.

Safe tune, maintenance almost complete.

All that's left to do is get the suspension tuned, and then mount an Origin GT wing. Then, I'm ready.

Dyno sheet will be scanned and up tomorrow (Sunday).

New year, new season, indeed!

Moved to WA last April to be closer to the "silicon forest" as my business is in the tech/internet market.

Currently having trouble with my scanner but I will have the dyno up asap.

Look at all that mid-range torque!!!!!!!!!

I can't go on enough about how happy I am with this tune. It's going to make my car considerably faster around road courses.

p.s. I forgot to mention that Lawrence from Intec Racing is the ONLY TUNER OF THE THREE I'VE BEEN TO THAT KNEW HOW TO USE MY HKS EVC VI BOOST CONTROLLER.

Not to mention that he was the only one to say, "Hey, dude we may have a bit of a problem here with the boost. Let's get it figured out before we do anything else." They stayed until midnight on Friday night, checking everything on the system to ensure that we had a proper diagnosis.

If you live in WA and want your Power FC tuned professionally, Lawrence at Intec Racing is the guy.

When looking back at all of my past dyno sheets, boost creep has been a problem from the get-go.

For whatever reason, I was I.P. banned from this site for the longest and this thread is worthy of one of my 1st post back.

I'm a diy kinda guy, but this was the only 240sx I would have ever considered buying, back when it was on eBay. I too followed this cars original build on VXvortex and saved every pic I could of Mike's old coupe. I even had the pleasure of corresponding with the guy via email back before he decided to sell.

I felt so strong about this car, I even ordered his exact wheel & tire setup and gutted my 1st s13 in an attempt to pay homage. Eventually I sold that s13 due to me uncovering accident damage. For my 2nd S13, I decided not to gut the interior, but I did refurbish and replace everything else on it.

Here's a pic when I was rocking the golden grams

Thanks for all the compliments and comments, guys!

As I said in an earlier post, I've been buying, wrenching, cutting, painting, etc.

You can really see the increased camber after my alignment last week. The origin gt wing looks so insane on the car, too. ROFLMAO.

Wasn't too thrilled about the wing's mounting holes for the end-plate things. I had to re-drill three of them to properly align.

Will probably be writing a "build your own wing-to-chassis brace" thread soon, as I am building my own this week.

Also, I may do a "how to install your own fuel surge tank" thread, as I didn't see one of those either on NICO. Have to do that for myself, now that I'm running the sticky boots.

A few pics:

You can see the replaced muffler and my beast, JoJo.

Lots of time and effort goes into stripping POR-15.

-4.0 degrees of camber in front. -2.0 in rear. Looks to be an even amount of space on all four tires to "roll" onto the slick during cornering.

Origin GT Wing

Preparing for surge tank.

Crappy alignment from Origin. Fixed with a re-drill.

Hehe, lots of space for brake cooling and intercooler breathing. Will be cutting more vent holes and utility holes soon.

I didn't buy her to cruise the town. I bought her to go silly fast.

Besides, I can convert back to oem aero(aside from flares) super easily.

Supplies!

Big ol' aluminum biscuit chassis mount.

Cut to fit.

Jumping WAYYY ahead today lol. GT Spec trunk brace? no thx I'll take mine.

Couldn't help it... had to get the base mounts drilled and perfectly fitted tonight. Can't wait to paint all of this stuff bling-style!

Dry erase markers make it easy...

Right on the money

More to come.

Well... FABRICATION ALL DONE! LEVEL on the x-y-z axes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sits up super-tall to catch a lot of clean air. I'll be drilling two more sets of holes in the future to give myself some adjustment options. Many more pics will be taken once the cross bars and mounts are gold and the towers are black. Also, I have to create the "weather-stripping" around the trunk cuts.

Well, here are a few pics of the process, and two finished pics:

Measuring even distance.

Perfect
