240SX Coupe - RB26DETT

mattblancarte,

I am putting an rb26 in my s13. Noticed you have what looks like a greddy pulley kit that includes a power steering pulley, is this correct? Are you using an RB25 or Rb26 power steering pump? From what i understand the rb25 pulley is a press fit on the power steering pump shaft and the rb26 is a bolted pulley. My RB25 pulley is a little bent and i am trying to decide what to do in terms of a new oem pulley/shaft or an after market pulley.

Yep, I've got the greddy pulleys. The difference is that I have a KA power steering pump.

I would just go with the OEM unit, but that's my .02.

Dude, rb's in 240s end up being about 60/40

It's at about 58/42 right now.

I need to finish up the welding still. I've been super busy and track days haven't exactly been a top top priority.

i would imagine skylines have a pretty imbalanced weight distribution also due to the AWD stuff up front along with the fully loaded rb26

if only they made the rb26 in all-aluminum

i never thought the 240 was 50/50 to begin with.

and you might loose a bit of fun-ness in the corners but a straight 6 (especially an RB) is far more baller than an SR

Every track day I run, I have TONS of people looking in my engine bay and commenting on how great the car sounds and how fast it looks compared to everyone. RB's are a blast at the track, no doubt.

I'm just a speed Nazi so I want to do whatever is necessary in mods to go a few seconds faster per lap.

Wonderful car by the way! SR20's are nice but I would prefer to go RB any day!

Yeah, got a hell of a deal on it a year ago. The project was relatively complete and I just took it to the next level.

Nah, been playing too much golf and indoor karting. Between that and work, I haven't gotten my butt out to the garage.

Some basic fluid maintenance, and she's ready for the track. I actually just took her out for a drive yesterday... nothing like jamming 400whp in first/second gear and hooking up.

Well, I took the first step towards recovery. Just bought 10 liters of Motul 300v Chrono, and enough transmission and diff fluid to shake a stick at.

Perhaps October is a good time to go fast...

if i may ask....what brand of tranny / diff oil do you use? and do you order online? if so, from where?

When I lived in Scottsdale, I would pick up fluids from Dynocomp due to the convenience factor.

Now that I'm in Seattle, I order online from EDO Performance. Same price really.

gracias. ill check out their site...i figure if its good enough for your RB26 tranny, prolly good enough for my KA. (w/ appropriate fluid weights)

Hehe I actually have the rb25det tranny in my car, but same deal. The tranny fluid is gl4/gl5 so I dunno if it would be best for your KA tranny.

I believe they strictly require gl4... I could be wrong, though.

you are correct, gl5 has a chemical that eats the syncos in nissan trannys

What are the offsets on the rims? Is adding 20mm spacers effectively subtracting 20mm s of offset?

Nope, staying with twins even if I upgrade because it's setup for road courses right now hehe.
