Hi I have a 1990 240 Sx Automatic that seems to be overreving slightly along with occasional hardshifting. It shifts hard as if I were dropping from nuetral sometimes very intermitant. What is most noticeable is the poor mileage have dropped to about 15 miles per gallon from a steady 22 Just have no idea where to begin
Overdrive is operational if I drive highway speeds and turn overdrive off revs will change
and inversley will go up if drivng with overdrive Off Not certain wher to start !

It sounds like its kinda working properly. If the trans hasn't been serviced in a very long time DO NOT flush it. Reason being, auto transmissions are sometimes "held together " by all the varnish and a flush would make it worse. I would change the trans filter and fill it back up, maybe use some Lucas trans treatment. Make sure you read the dipstick when filling. It will say "idle in neutral " or " idle on park" which ever one it is that's how you check/add fluid. NOW THATS THINKIN WITH YOUR DIPSTICK LAD!
