I have been told September for the Indianapolis area.
I have owned both cars and I love both cars. As people have said, both cars are totally different.
I will list the reason why I bought my WRX.1. Performance from the factory. I am buying a house this month and I didn’t want to have a project car/JDM engine for my daily driver. Sheot happens and if you have to make a decision about making a house payment and fixing your car, the car will loose.2. The car has a warranty. My 1991 240 didn’t.3. The WRX has a huge aftermarket following. You can order parts from Japan, Europe, Australia and America. The problem is not finding aftermarket parts; it’s deciding what to buy from the myriads of parts.4. Subaru has been limiting the production numbers of WRX’s. They have not over saturated the market with WRX’s. This will help resale value and you don’t see a lot of them out on the road. It kind makes you stick out in the crowd.5. The WRX comes in a wagon and a sedan. I know that a lot of people prefer a car that is a coupe (since it looks sportier), but I like the functionality of having a Sedan that people can actually sit in the back of. When we went down to the last BG meet, we had 3 tall guys in the car. 6. It comes with an all wheel drive system. In rain and in snow, the WRX acts like a champ. This winter here in Indy has been pretty brutal and having AWD has been a God sent. When people talk Sheot about the WRX, I just ask them if they can run full boost in the snow. 7. The WRX has a lot of untapped potential. By just freeing up the intake and the exhaust will make the WRX scream. Some WRX owners claim that they have freed up 40hp by removing the cats in the car. 8. When I bought the car, everything that was in its performance class was way too expensive. BMW’s and Audis were way over priced and didn’t produce the numbers that the WRX could.9. The car will do 140mph from the factory. It may not be Q45 fast (have to give Fred his props), but for a subcompact that is about as fast as I want to be going.10. The Impreza has had a good life in the 2.5RS, WRX, 22B and the STi all over the world. Subaru has ironed out a lot of problems to get the car where it is today.
I hope this helps you a little bit in your decision. Both cars have their advantages and disadvantages. You really need to decide what you want to do with the car, how much you want to pay to buy the car, maintain it and insure it. Both cars have big Internet and enthusiast followings. You can find fellow enthusiasts in any part of this country.
BTW for the people that say the headlights look ugly? Don’t worry you wont see them for very long. Seriously, there are tons of tricks and mods you can do the front headlights. I have seen people put on Rally lights, STi lights, projector lights and modify their lights (baking them in an oven to open them put and then painting them.)
