I'm looking to see what LEDs a 2022 Rogue SL might take?
Specifically for the 2 map lights and Dome light.

The manual simply says W8W and is recommended to visit the dealer.

I think the map lights are just way too dim being incandescent so an LED upgrade would be ideal.

They should be wedge T10's. However, be exquisitely careful when messing with the interior lamps. The "fade" effects are accomplished by an open-collector tran-sistor driver inside the BCM, and if you accidentally short a bulb socket while the lights are on, it will trash the BCM. I strongly recommend disconnecting the battery while messing with bulbs you aren't sure about.

Holy #!@$#

Ok, that ends this idea. I just got a new Subaru and it was pretty simple doing this and they too have a fade-effect. I wonder if something similar is possible there as well... No one on the forums mentioned it but when I changed the bulbs out I only used fingers and there was no way of shorting them out (more or less) but if the housing is metal/grounded (vs just plastic) I could see a potential if something touched the wrong way.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess if it still bothers me down the road I could do this with the battery disconnected of course but I've lived with it for 3yrs so far so...

Wow..

Just about all the systems I've seen with lighting effects use low side, open-collector drive, and any system which uses that technique will be vulnerable to a short in the load. Your 'Ru will likely have the same issue, the only question is whether the lamp driver is inside the body controller or part of something less expensive.
