I have never had an "electronic parking brake" and whenever on a hill, I would always pull up the parking brake even if an automatic vehicle.

The manual is confusing, it says it automatically applies the electronic parking brake, so why is there even a button and a light indicator that ONLY shows when you manually apply it or after 3 mins if in the automatic hold????

I noticed when it goes in electronic parking brake mode after 3 mins in automatic hold mode, I can accelerate and it turns right off....however, If I am parked and manually engage the electronic parking brake (and light shows up on dash too), when I go to accelerate after putting in drive or Reverse, it feels as if it isn't releasing and I stop as to avoid any potential damage.

Anyone have a simple answer to this likely highly simple issue lol?

Thanks for any 411!

That's just the way the software works. The auto-hold works differently than if you apply the brake using the button. The button isn't "auto" anything, it's a command to the system which it won't override until you tell it to turn off. Auto-hold is a convenience and doesn't need your input.

Ok, thank you for the info. That makes sense with the auto-hold mode. The manual (book) is written confusing as makes it sound like the emergency parking brake is 100% automatic and is fool proof, yet clearly if it is lit up at the button (the one that has to be done manually), it is the SAME as one with a manual car that one would have to pull up.

Agreed

Most the manual is pretty well written though, but yeah, a bit of a language barrier or something for sure!
