This is not a good idea, you run the risk of melting/damaging the fog lamp housing, connectors and/or wiring due to the increased heat. I agree. By using a higher watt you're risking melting the assembly. If this happens warranty won't cover it and headlight assemblies are not cheap. You may not have had any issues yet, but in my opinion it's not worth it chancing that kind of issue. If the warranty doesn't matter to you then by all means go for what you want. Stick with the specified wattage bulbs only.
