I've read complaints from a few owners stating that it takes 20 minutes or longer to cool down their vehicle to a livable temperature, on a not-so-hot summer day. Some say that the system will not lower the fan speed as it never gets the vehicle down to the temperature they selected. These same owners have said that Nissan says "this is normal".

So, just for the hell of it, I decided to use my infrared thermometer to check how cold the AC is blowing in my current ride, a 2003 Honda CR-V. The other day, with mid 70ºF ambient temperature, i measured a low of 29ºF coming from a few of the dashboard vents. This vehicle has what I consider to be a pretty good AC system, which i sometimes have to turn the temp up as it's too cold for me. My 2002 Subaru WRX which rarely froze me out, put out a low of about 42ºF

I'm wondering if anyone has measured the temperature of the air exiting the AC ducts of their Rogue...
If so, what readings did you get, and do you feel your vehicle is working properly, or are you one of the owners who is experiencing issues with inadequate cooling?

Lastly, and maybe somebody who works/knows/understands AC can answer this...Is a system designed to blow a certain low temperature, or it it designed to lets say lower the temp by a certain amount, for example, maybe its designed to lower the temp by 30º or 40ºF from whatever the ambient temperature it is taking in...

Good questions! I hope some answers come of this.

We have seen issues with Versas that take forever to warm up in the winter, but nothing about Rogues taking a while to get cold just yet.

Are you sweating, or just want colder air?

Neither. I've read a few complaints of it taking 20 minutes to cool the car. I might have read it on another forum, but a couple of people complained, so I figured it wasn't a very isolated thing.

I had my 14 here in St. Louis this past summer. Never had any issues with the AC cooling the car. I generally leave the sunshade open as well.

Hey guys,

I'm looking at getting a '14 Rogue for my wife. I have read a lot of negative reviews about the AC not being very efficient and the acceleration being pretty slow. Other than this the Rogue has everything we are looking for. I wanted to see if any owners have had these issues?

I test drove one a few days ago and the acceleration seemed fine to me but I wasn't able to put it through too rigorous of a test.

Also, with the AC, we live in Phoenix, AZ and the temp here gets in the 115 degree range in the summer. We have an 08 Chevy Cobalt that has weak AC and we roast in it during the summer. Our 07 Camry is great! We are hoping to not have that issue with this one. Any insight is appreciated!

Thanks
Chris

Also, this only applies to the 2014/2015 Rogues, as prior to 2013 don't appear to have these issues

you pretty much answered your own question. what you read, were not lies. you read correctly = weak AC & heat.

this is not a car designed for fast acceleration. its a tiny suv thats designed to me roomier than a sentra, and offer better MPG's than murano or anything else in the class. this transmission was not chosen for speed. it was chosen for better MPG's. if you want power, look elsewhere. i personally find this suv just fine. i came from a maxima, g37s(6mt), race-bikes, etc.

as i stated before, you already know the answer to your questions. you clearly stated you read that the ac sucks. it does. i would NOT buy this car if you live in a climate with those temps. it pains me to say that. i plan on moving south (TX), and the first thing i will do is sell this car, for that reason alone.

My experience in STL, in the summer during our usual extended 100-ish temps with high humidity, has been good. Every bit as good as my old Altima which I thought to be just fine in the AC department (but not heat). Particularity if the crossover wasn't parked in the sun to start with....but even if it was the Rogue would cool down (with the fan on hella high) after 10 minutes.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the responses. It sounds like the AC isn't great but may be bearable depending on the person or exactly how hot it is. Knowing how particular my wife is about the AC, we might be better off going another route.

I've been thinking about the Murano. I know they are more expensive but it might be a better fit for her. Does anyone know if the AC in Muranos have the same problem? I would imagine they would be better. That would also solve any acceleration issues as well as I know those are plenty powerful for the size.

Thanks again!

It was -4f here in montreal yesterday and no problems with the heater. Even around 100 in the summer no a/c issues on my end. 2014 sv.
