GM garbage or not, Gm has consistently given this market away to Ford. They need to get off their a**es and build something to challenge the mustang. They look okay. Personally, I love it if Nissan started building the 240 again, the exact same body and all. That'll probably never happen though.

That T/A does look a hell of alot like a 'Vette though. Sweet.
Dude. Smokey and the Bandit. Sheesh!

The new T/A seems to share a lot of the lines w/ the Corvette. I mean, the rear window design, the rear valance, the sloping hood. Eh.

Way to look to the future GM.

They all look like very similar cars in different costumes to me. The Pontiac is almost a clone of the Corvette.

Way to go GM!

Although they do look very similar, you can tell a big difference if you look closely.

Where the corvette is a 2-seater, you can see that the rear end past the glass is longer, and the cabin is smaller.

The Pontiacs glass is just the rear window, more than likely not a hatch.

The Corvettes front-end is more blunt, and the Ponticas comes to a point.

Although the roofline looks the same, the side windows are completely different.

The Pontics front-end is much taller than the Corvettes, which slopes down.

The Pontics front windshield is raked back further than the Corvette's.

Although they're similar, they're both very different cars. They're not different enough to justify building a new T/A though.

GM is trying to play the heritage game with the Camaro and T/A. They're hoping all the baby boomers that remember these cars from they're youth will start picking them up like hotcakes when they come out.

I believe they could've done much better, but they could have been much worse.

I'm disappointed in both cars. Frankly, i don't think they hvae a chance in hell from grabbing the market back from Ford with the retro muscle car market.

Thank GOD Corvette is it's own seperate wing inside Chevrolet/GM. Otherwise, it would get shafted on everything styling wise too.

the vette and LSx motors are the only saving grace of GM. Most everything else sucks.

looks good but whose to say that retro will still be in? lol. as for the camaro, it will be all up to the pricing as to whether or not it will trump the mustang sales.

The New gen TA does look OK, but not as good as the camaro. As for previous gens, I cant believe no one has said anything about the 4th gen (98-02)Trans Am WS6, one of the best styled cars out(even currently).....and GM F-bodies if NOT beaten the livin **** out of(well even if you do...daily), will last quite well, the LS1 is bulletproof. Ive owned my WS6 for 5 yrs and had only 1 sensor problem(35 bucks).....cant complain with that on a car that does consistant LOW 13 sec 1/4s and OVER 300 RWHP....as for the new gen, i think one of the downsides will be the weight and the radical styling(might be a love/hate deal)

.....interesting. I guess.

You know what I'd love to see? A new version of an older car that has the same exact body as the old car, just touched up a bit. Like a chuki with a modern interior and junk. These radical design remakes of older cars are more miss than hit.

Trying to tout one ugly monstrosity over the other is like trying to pick the most tasty cat turd.

They are SOOOOO ugly I would atually prefer the new GT-R. That's saying a lot. That thing is butt-ugly too but at least it does not actually induce vomiting like these things.

That TA looks badass. I would drive a new TA over the new camaro. Their are so many cars coming out that I would like to have.

Maybe it'll have a good suspension design with it's Monte Carlo chassis? Time'll tell I guess.

Welcome to April, people.

Anyway, if you hunt down the updates on these you'll find that the Camaro will receive a B-pillar before it hits the road. Other than that both cars are supposed to come out almost exactly like their concept forms.

I like them. They have balls. Personally, I'd have to break from tradition and avoid the screaming chicken. And, yes, the hood scoops are pretty stupid, but I could survive them or the Camaro's grille.

That TA concept is NOT official.

As nametakennow said, welcome to April. That is an ancient Winding Road article that speculated on what a possible Zeta Camaro based TA would look like.

GM has NOT stated whether Pontiac's next 2-door performance car will be the GTO or the TA.

NO NEW TRANS AM HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED.

True, it may be a GTO, but, given the relation between GM products in the past, a Camaro's Pontiac equivalent will likely be a Firebird/TA.

How much you wanna bet they come out with the same interior switchgear they've been using since 1984?
You're right, still GM garbage.

The new camaro, mustang, and Trans Am are all prime examples of why I hate new cars. They're huge, full of plastic, and lack originality.

Notes:

I hate big cars. What the hell is with people wanting large vehicles? Sure most new cars are now pushing out high power, but the only reason is to compensate for their 3200lb+ design.

Retro styling sucks. Come on, this is the 21st century.

Marketing Anyone see the first episode of Dilbert where the creation of a marketing branch for Nirvana pretty much ruins the company?

And now that I think about it, the only new affordable car that I still enjoy is the Mazda MX5. Still has a decent wheelbase, the car has evolved and yet still looks great, and the new model comes with a hardtop.

GM won't be alive in 2011.

Or worse will be owned by Hundai.

If they did that with a 240z, theres no doubt at all it would sell like crazy.

it looks like a photochopped C6.

no amused.

I hope Ford doesn't ugly up the Mustang in the same fashion as the new F body...the concepts I've seen are quite disappointing

they need to make it a for real fastback again...that'd be sweet.

The VIN number for that car should begin with F-A-I-L.

HA

Looks like a sunfire and corvette had an illegitimate love-child.. Only problem is when siblings have sex, the offspring is usually missing a chromosome or two..
