Bottom cushion seat heater on my 2011 Pathfinder has stopped working. Seat back heater works fine. With the cold days starting here already, I would like to fix it.

Can I use the Dorman universal seat heater kit off Amazon or would I need to order the factory one from the local Nissan dealer?
Would using the Dorman kit entail having to cut/splice the existing connector on the car?
The Dorman kit would be less than $50 while the cheapest Nissan seat heater for the bottom cushion (87385-ZP00A) is about $110.

Any thoughts from the members here on which would be the best option? Thanks!

You'll definitely need to do some cutting and splicing with an aftermarket kit, but the heating element itself is basically just a stretched-out resistor. The high-low setting is achieved by putting the elements either in parallel or series, so that won't be affected either. Pretty much anybody's element should work fine, it's just a matter of the amount of work to install it.
